Apple 's recent $3 billion acquisition of Beats headphones may hint at a planned transformation of the way people listen to music while on the go.
The module will allow for headphones to plug directly into the Lightning port found on the bottom of current generation iPhones and iPads.

Speaking at WWDC, Apple's platform manager of accessories announced a new 'Lightning headphone module' during a developer conference.
Expect this to be done very differently soon
The module will allow for headphones to plug directly into the Lightning port found on the bottom of current generation iPhones and iPads.
The recent Beats purchase likely means that future headphones from the brand will ship with a Lightning connector rather than a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It may also mean that "made for iPhone" accessories in future won't use traditional connectors.
Those who are lucky enough to have headphones with interchangeable cables will probably find Apple selling Thunderbolt cables and adapters.
