Ex-Destiny’s Child Member Arrested In South Carolina

On July 20, Farrah Franklin was arrested for disorderly conduct in South Carolina.

The former member of Destiny’s Child — who appeared alongside Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams in the “Say My Name” and “Jumpin’, Jumpin’” videos before being dismissed from the girl group in 2000 — was booked into Horry County Detention Center at 4:55 a.m. and released later that Sunday at 12:16 p.m. She was fined $280.

The police told TMZ that Franklin flew to Myrtle Beach with Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers and Houston Texans outside linebacker Ricky Sapp. After reportedly partying together on Saturday night, things allegedly got out of hand, and the two NFL players called the police on Franklin after she fled Sapp’s residence.

Law enforcement found a “highly intoxicated” Franklin lying in a neighbor’s yard, claiming she was planning to sleep in the woods. See the 33-year-old singer’s mugshot below.

For her part, Franklin doesn’t appear to be letting the negativity surrounding the arrest get her down. Following her release from the Horry County Detention Center, Farrah posted two motivational visuals on her Instagram.

The first, Instagrammed at the Myrtle Beach International Airport, says “May the Lord turn all your sour moments into sweet lemonade,” and the second “To be great, you have to be willing to be mocked, hated, and misunderstood. Stay strong.” In the latter’s caption, she added: “I’m good just hate the dumb media sometimes, but hey this is the job I signed up for. So I respect it #TurnDownForWhat #TeamFARRAH #GodsChild.”
