The 'Marry the Night' singer was speaking to fans at her 'artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball' tour date at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas when she became emotional.
As she introduced a performance of 'Born This Way', she said: "I started go-go dancing when I was 18.
"The really, the most important thing I want to thank you for, is believing in just this tiny American girl from New York who had a dream."
Lady Gaga's latest arena tour will visit the UK in October and November, with dates scheduled in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle and London.
The singer's ARTPOP album topped the charts in the US and UK when it was released late last year, and spawned two UK Top 10 singles, 'Applause' and 'Do What U Want'.
