Ben Affleck congratulates George Clooney on wedding: "I wish them the best"

Ben Affleck has sent his congratulations to George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin after the pair's marriage in Venice.

Affleck was unable to attend the ceremony due to Gone Girl commitments, but said he wishes them the best.

He joked to ET Canada : "Yeah. Some people have to work and everybody else gets to be in Venice."

"But [Clooney] found a great girl and I'm happy for them," he continued. "I wish them the best."

Clooney and Affleck both produced 2012's Argo , a film which Affleck also directed and starred in.

Clooney and Alamuddin married in a celebrity-filled ceremony yesterday (September 27), attended by the likes of Bill Murray, Matt Damon and Cindy Crawford.

Affleck's Gone Girl is released on October 3.
