The character, played by Michael French , shows up in Albert Square next month with girlfriend Naomi (Lisa Maxwell).

David visits former lover Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) upon his return and demands to see daughter Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer), who is away.
Just days later he is beaten and left for dead when his "dodgy past" catches up with him, according to the Daily Star Sunday .
He staggers to Carol's house and collapses on her doorstep, forcing her to take him in until he is back on his feet.
This causes problems between Carol and new boyfriend Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra), who isn't happy at the thought of David staying with her.
David briefly rekindled his romance with Carol when he returned to Walford in January 2012 to visit his mum Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement), who was dying from cancer.
