Justin Timberlake defends Miley Cyrus at VMAs: 'What did you expect?!'

Justin Timberlake has defended Miley Cyrus's raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013, saying that Cyrus was simply "declaring her womanhood".

The 'We Can't Stop' singer stunned some of the audience at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, NY by suggestively twerking with Robin Thicke as he sang his sensual hit 'Blurred Lines'.

Timberlake told 97.1 AMP Radio : "I'll go easy on Miley, man. She's declaring her womanhood. Let her do her thing, man... I don't have anything to say about that, but she got y'all's attention! This was not the Grammys, this was not the Oscars, this was the VMAs.

"This was where Madonna came out in a wedding dress and humped the stage. This is where Britney did the striptease. This is where you do it. What did you guys expect?!"

Selena Gomez and Adam Lambert have both defended Cyrus in the wake of the public outcry over her appearance at the MTV awards show.

Meanwhile, Timberlake briefly reunited with his former *NSYNC bandmates during a show-stopping megamix of his greatest hits on the night, but JC Chasez has revealed that the group have no plans to tour.
