"It's all a guessing game, in my part," the actor told Collider . "It's up to Vince Gilligan, who created and wrote Breaking Bad, and Peter Gould, who was a part of the episode that spawned Saul Goodman."
Odenkirk also hinted that there is "a lot [more] to find out about Saul" and that the new show could explore an "ethical grey area".
"I've always loved The Rockford Files and The Night Stalker," he said.
"We're in a different era of television now - you can get much darker and more complicated with your characters and your situations."
Vince Gilligan recently told Digital Spy and others that he has "a great hope" that the Saul series will go ahead.
Breaking Bad's final season continues on Sunday nights on AMC, and is available on Netflix in the UK.
