The British comedian and actor , who most recently appeared on Hannibal , is known for wearing women's clothes during his stand-up routines and in his private life.

According to The Mirror , Izzard says that he was beaten up both in London's Leicester Square and in New York's Times Square.
He said: "It was bad. I was walking along, being myself and minding my own business. I wasn't doing anything wrong but because I was dressed in women's clothes they set upon me.
"I was badly injured. It was horrible, I was very upset and frightened."
Izzard did not reveal any further information about the nature of the attacks.
He recently confirmed plans to run for London mayor in 2020.
