Katie Couric said that her fiancée John Molner's proposal over Labor Day weekend caught her by total surprise.
Molner popped the question on the beach in East Hampton. Couric told People magazine that he took her to the beach and said they were there for a reason. The reason wasn't immediately clear to Couric, as she recalled, "Finally he said, 'Couric, I'm trying to propose to you,' and I was stunned."
"It took me a while to say yes, because I was so confused!" she added. "It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on."
Couric confirmed her engagement to Molner on Tuesday, tweeting:
Yes it's true! So touched by all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you! A great end to the summer & looking fwd to seeing you all Monday!!

She and Molner, the head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman, have been dating for over a year. The couple first stepped out together spring 2012. In her interview with People, Couric also said that remarrying was a "priority" that she pursued "with some purpose." The television host has previously said that she wanted to marry again and liked the idea of "having a life partner."
