Katy Perry leaving pop for folk music?

Katy Perry has revealed that her next record may not feature pop music.

The 28-year-old singer's upcoming album Prism features several pop songs, including its first single 'Roar'.

In a recent interview with Billboard (via WENN ), Perry said that her future music will emulate the work of folk artists like singer and songwriter Joni Mitchell.


She said: "I'll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell. As I inch towards my 30s, I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar album.


"That's where I started when I was first discovered by [songwriter/producer] Glen Ballard and got my first record deal. We'll see - I can't get ahead of myself."


Perry revealed recently that she admires the acoustic work of boyfriend John Mayer, saying the 'Wonderland' singer .


Prism, Perry's third album to date, is set for release in the UK on October 21 and in the US a day later.
