Parineeti Chopra has claimed that she was "typecast" after starring in Ishaqzaade.
The actor said that her upcoming movie Shuddh Desi Romance was the only script to have caught her attention recently.
"I hadn't signed anything in eight months after Ishaqzaade, as I kept being given typecast roles and similar scripts, then Jaideep Sahni came to me with this," she told Ashanti Omkar, Bollywood editor for Cineworld Cinemas.
Chopra advised more traditional audiences not to watch her new release, which is described as a modern-day love story.
"The film is about about things that are no longer taboo, as they exist within our society. It is not for the very orthodox viewers, but all these things are changing in the India of today," she said.
Shuddh Desi Romance will screen in the Gala Presentation section of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
The film releases on September 6.
