Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg producing R-rated animation 'Sausage Party'

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are developing an R-rated animated comedy.

Sausage Party is to be co-produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures.

The Superbad and This Is the End filmmakers have written the project, along with Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, from a story by Goldberg, Rogen and Jonah Hill.

Shrek 2's Conrad Vernon will direct with Greg Tiernan.

The CGI animated film is described as a "raunchy" story about one sausage's hopes of finding out the truth about his existence.

After he falls out of a shopping trolley, the sausage and his friends travel through the supermarket to get back to their aisle before the Fourth of July sale.
