Universal Pictures confirmed that the Sons of Anarchy actor would no longer be taking the role of Christian Grey earlier this month (October 13).
Hunnam made his first public appearance since the news broke at a fundraising event in Burbank for One Heart Source Education Programmes in Africa.
"I am doing good. I am just really concentrating on work. It's been a really busy time," he told E! Online .
"I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive."
Hunnam, whose father passed away in May of this year, added that he intends to spend more time with his family in England.
"I've got some family stuff I have to tend to. So when I wrap the show, I am going to go to England and see my people and then I have a film that I am doing with Guillermo [del Toro]. So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of Sons."
Speaking about the end of Sons of Anarchy, he revealed: "There's rumour that we might do a couple of more episodes and do a little bit of an extended season next year, so we will see if that happens. It may or it may not. But I just want to finish that strong and go on to a new chapter of life."
The replacement for Hunnam in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will reportedly be finalised in the "next few weeks".
The Sam Taylor-Johnson-directed movie adaptation of EL James's novel is scheduled to begin production on November 1.
Hunnam was alleged to have pulled out after being "overwhelmed" by the hype surrounding the production.
Jamie Dornan is reportedly emerging as the new frontrunner to replace him.
