The Disney Channel aired a 91-second teaser for the film on Friday (January 18), which focuses on Angelina Jolie playing the mistress of evil.
Also included is exclusive footage from the movie's first meeting between Maleficent (Jolie) and Sleeping Beauty (Elle Fanning) in the enchanted forest.
Jolie's character is referred to as "Disney's greatest villain" in the preview, with the sorceress having previously been immortalised in the 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty.

This new live-action film features Brenton Thwaites as Prince Phillip and Sharlto Copley as King Stefan.
The first poster for Maleficent was unveiled in November, shortly before the initial teaser was screened.
Maleficent opens on May 30 in the UK and the US.
