The 83-year-old has been cast as a man who holds the lease to Max and Caroline's (Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs) rent-controlled New York apartment, reports TV Line .

Linden is notable for playing New York police captain Barney Miller from 1975 to 1982, a role which earned him seven Emmy Award nominations.
He won a Tony Award in 1971 for his work on The Rothschilds, and also recently appeared on The Mindy Project .
