Jason Manford buys audience £3,500 worth of drinks for late gig

Jason Manford spent more than £3,500 on drinks for the audience at his recent gig.

The stand-up comedian was stuck in traffic on the way to his sell-out gig in Lincoln and offered to pay for a round while they waited by way of apology.

"Seemed like good idea to offer free drink cos of lateness!" the Salford-born comic wrote on Twitter. "But shoulda added Kopparberg to the banned list of drinks!"

The 32-year-old spent a total of £3,532.40 on attendees of the show at the Engine Shed venue on Saturday (March 29).

Manford was cheered on stage when he eventually turned up 40 minutes late at 8.10pm.

His First World Problems tour continues across the UK until June 27, where he will finish up in Reading.
