The actor and wife Fergie welcomed a son named Axl Jack at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles in August 2013.
Speaking to Parade , Duhamel revealed that his entire life changed with the arrival of his son.
"It's not about us anymore; it's about all of us: me, Ferg, and the baby," he explained.
"We look at ourselves now and we look at our lives before, and it's like, 'Wow, we actually have a family now - this is like a real family'!"
Duhamel was also quizzed about the best aspect of being a new father.
"Getting to see all of those clichés that you hear about from other parents: that it's hard, it's crazy, it's the funniest and most fun thing you'll do," he replied.
The actor continued: "When you get to that six-month mark they really start to do things that are amazing. To anyone else it's like, 'Yeah, your baby's holding his bottle, big deal,' but to us it's like, 'Oh my God, he's holding his bottle now! He's sitting up! He's starting to crawl'!
"He starts to think things are funny and he has a really funny and sweet personality and it's really fun to see that."
Duhamel revealed last October that he and Fergie were already looking forward to having another baby.
