Scooter Braun Is Making A 'Jem And The Holograms' Movie

If you combined the talents of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon M. Chu, Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun, and "Paranormal Activity" Producer Jason Blum, what movie would most likely be the result?

If you said a live action version of classic 1980's cartoon "Jem and The Holograms," well, you're the only one.

As just announced on YouTube, and emphasized on the accompanying video over and over that it isn't a joke, the trio is looking to do an updated version of the 'toon, and if that wasn't enough they want to cast it through Tumblr.

Seriously.

If you head to JemTheMovie.com, they've already set up a website announcing the "truly outrageous" project, and want fans to suggest casting using the hashtag #JemTheMovie. They can submit themselves for the project, or a star like, say, Miley Cyrus. Because this project needs to get more ridiculous.

The animated show, which was created by writer Christy Marx in 1985 in conjunction with a line of toys being launched by Hasbro (which may explain the Chu connection, given his work on "G.I. Joe"), revolved around a regular girl named Jerica who used hologram technology to become music superstar Jem. Along with her band, they fought the forces of evil girl band The Misfits in order to protect a super-computer named Synergy.

Yup, Tumblr seems about the right place to cast this movie, after all.

We'll keep you appraised of further details as the project develops.
