Tom Wilkinson in talks to portray US president in MLK movie Selma

Tom Wilkinson has been attached to Selma.

The English actor is in talks to portray former US president Lyndon B Johnson in Ava DuVernay's Martin Luther King Jr movie Selma, reports The Wrap .

David Oyelowo is set to play Martin Luther King Jr in the drama that will focus on his landmark 1965 voting rights campaign during the civil rights movement.

President Johnson gave a historic speech about voting rights one week after violence erupted in Selma, Alabama.


Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt are both producing the project.


Lee Daniels was initially attached to direct Selma , with Oyelowo as King and Liam Neeson as Johnson.


Wilkinson previously starred in Michael Clayton, In the Bedroom, Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Grand Budapest Hotel .
