Kendrick and SNL cast member Taran Killam take viewers backstage, where this week's guest host admits that she is confused by the concept of the sketch show.
Killam also reveals his love of show tunes, but takes a precaution to ensure that music licensing rights are not violated.
Kendrick is hosting Saturday Night Live for the very first time this weekend.
Her special musical guest will be Oscar nominee Pharrell Williams.
Saturday Night Live airs at 11.30pm ET on NBC.
