'Arrow': Willa Holland Teases 'Deathstroke' And Her Superhero Future

"She's in a pretty, pretty scary state," Holland told MTV News on the phone in advance of tonight's (April 2) all new episode, "Deathstroke." "As we can see, she's definitely been kidnapped. She's definitely in an intense situation."

For Thea, this is just the latest in a series of blows for the character. The most recent was when her boyfriend Roy (Colton L. Haynes) hooked up with another woman in order to drive Thea away. Though Thea doesn't know Roy did it because he's hepped up on superhuman drugs that are driving him insane, she still knew the hook-up was more than just her man stepping out on her.

"Roy and Thea will always have an insane love for each other," Holland continued. "Right now she has an understanding that he needs his space. Not getting why he needs his space, but clearly he needs it."

Even with the space and the eternal love, there may not be much a chance for the duo.

"Both of them are going through so much the next few episodes, it's going to play out to be understandable why they needed to have a separation," Holland said. "Hopefully they do rekindle, because I love working with Colton."

And one of those things they'll have to deal with is Thea's abduction by Slade. Slade blames Oliver (Stephen Amell) for the death of his true love, and has decided to burn Oliver's world down around him. Step one in that plan is making Thea disappear.

"The main objective of this kidnapping was to screw with Oliver," Holland said, "and not let him get what's happening to Thea, and leave him completely at a loss. Not knowing if he killed her off the bat, or what; he has no idea."

With Thea off the grid and Oliver unable to find her, you'd think the damsel in distress trope would be in effect. But given the trend of this season on "Arrow," Thea is more than capable of taking care of herself.

"She's very confused off the bat, but she's a smart girl, she pieces things together," Holland said. "Obviously Slade is a bad man. Obviously she shouldn't have trusted him. There's a lot of intense things that happen throughout this episode."

Though Holland wouldn't give away any spoilers, there is the possibility that Thea might escape from Slade by stepping up to her comic book destiny as the arrow-shooting Speedy.

"I mean, I have always hoped since the beginning of the show, that I'd take out some type of weapon and use it in some violent way," Holland said. "It would so much fun to do so."

If Thea does manage to battle her way out of being captured by Slade, she's got even more problems to contend with in her future. There's the question of her parentage, first and foremost: turns out she's actually the daughter of season one villain Malcolm Merlyn, though she doesn't know that yet.

The other problem, and the one Holland thinks is a potentially bigger bombshell than her secret father is that Oliver is really The Arrow.

"She does feel like he is the only person she can trust," Holland said. "Regardless, if either secret is revealed to her it's going to take her deeper down on this path she's going. She's going into a dark situation. Things are getting pretty dim in her life at the moment."

Regardless of where her life goes, though, there will be one constant: managing nightclub Verdant. And as we all know, if you have a club on a TV show it has to be visited by superstars that "happen" to be in the area. So who would Holland dream-book at Verdant?

"You know what? I would say Pharrell to perform 'Happy,' because that's the song that's stuck in my head right now," Holland said.

And would Thea wear Pharrell's giant hat?

"No, I'd make Oliver wear it," Holland said, laughing.
