The five-minute clip gives an overview of how to doodle and use tools in the forthcoming drawing sim.
The Nintendo 3DS title offers step-by-step instructions and allows users to save their paintings or post them to Miiverse.
It also contains 40 lessons in which players can encounter a number of Pokemon, including Pikachu, Oshawott, Charizard, Torchic and Fennekin.
Pokemon Art Academy will make its debut next month in stores and on the Nintendo eShop.
Remastered versions of Game Boy Advance classics Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are also slated for this year.
