CM Punk officially removed from main WWE roster

CM Punk has officially been removed from the main WWE roster.

The former champion has not appeared on WWE TV since this year's Royal Rumble, reportedly walking out of the company just before the start of Raw on January 27.

It was understood that Punk remained under contract with the company until the middle of this month, and yesterday (July 15) he was moved from the main roster to the Alumni section of the WWE.com website.

Seemingly in response to the move, Punk wrote on Twitter today: "Nope, thank YOU. Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don't ever take any s**t from anybody."

Earlier this week, Punk had teased: "Starting a band, a podcast, and a fire. One of these is true. (Okay, two)."

In March when Raw came to Chicago, Punk's former advocate Paul Heyman trolled the crowd by walking out to Living Colour's 'Cult of Personality' - CM Punk's theme music - before blaming the WWE Universe for his former client's departure.

"I point the blame for the fact that CM Punk is not here tonight, I point that finger at each and every single one of you," said Heyman.

"The fact is when CM Punk was with me, CM Punk was the longest reigning WWE Champion of the past 25 years.

"I provided CM Punk the bosom from which his soul could be nourished and then, then you took him away from me."

Last month, Punk (real name Phil Brooks) married AJ Lee (real name April Jeanette Mendez) in a private ceremony.

AJ had been absent from WWE programming after dropping the Divas Championship to NXT rookie Paige on the Raw after WrestleMania, but returned at the end of June to regain her title.

Many Superstars have predicted that Punk will at some point return to an active wrestling role with the company.

Ahead of the 2014 Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Alberto Del Rio told Digital Spy : "He'll be back soon. I don't know when, but he'll back."

Chris Jericho said: "I know how he feels... It took a long time for me to be able to come back, and I was probably the same age as Punk is now too, so maybe he's going through the same thing and after a few years he'll come back."

Previously, then-Intercontinental Champion Big E told DS : "There's a lot of people who desperately want him back, a lot of fans who would be excited to have him back... I know if he did return there'd be a lot of buzz and a lot of happy fans as well."

In the days after Punk's walkout, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin told Arsenio Hall: "I think it is a real deal, but I would like to think he will come back. But he's a pretty hard-headed young man so we'll see what happens."
