The Clan of the Cave Bear is the first book in Auel's series and follows Ayla, a young woman trying to survive in prehistoric times.

The drama is an adaptation of the best-selling series from author Jean M. Auel.
The Clan of the Cave Bear is the first book in Auel's series and follows Ayla, a young woman trying to survive in prehistoric times.
Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) will executive produce the project alongside 24's Brian Grazer, Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Linda Woolverton (Maleficent), Francie Calfo (Gang Related) and Auel.
Woolverton will pen the script for the drama pilot that is targeted for a potential 2015 premiere.
In June, Lifetime announced a Saved By The Bell behind-the-scenes TV movie.
The women's network is also working on an Aaliyah biopic set to chronicle the late singer's rise to fame.
