Mario Kart 8 helped boost Wii U hardware sales in June, Nintendo has confirmed.
The racing title sold more than 470,000 units in June, bringing its lifetime total to over 885,000 units in the US alone.
Meanwhile, Sony's PlayStation 4 was the top-selling home console of June, outselling the Xbox One - sales of which 'more than doubled' last month.

Sales of the console were up 233% last month, according to the firm, which also notes a 373% increase in software sales over June 2013.
The racing title sold more than 470,000 units in June, bringing its lifetime total to over 885,000 units in the US alone.
"These results reinforce the power of the Mario Kart franchise and speak to a bright future for the Wii U platform," said Nintendo of America marketing executive Scott Moffitt .
"History has shown that Mario Kart games tend to have an extremely long tail. We fully expect Mario Kart 8 to continue to drive momentum for our hardware and software business through the holidays and into the foreseeable future."
