The X Factor: Louis Walsh's Six-Chair fiasco ends in a sing-off

Louis Walsh 's Six Chair Challenge ends in a sing-off on tonight's episode of The X Factor, after the judge struggles to decide who to send through to Judges' Houses.

Walsh has a tough time with almost all of his choices during the brutal Boot Camp stage, with Simon Cowell predicting "trouble" after just three acts have performed.

After Walsh sends one act home, the judges are shocked and Mel B warns him that he has done "the wrong thing".

The crowd's reaction is so strong that Cowell is forced to walk over to see Walsh and tell him: "Sometimes you have to listen to what the audience is saying."

But the trouble doesn't stop there, as Walsh admits that he is "scared" after he has filled all six of his seats - and still has groups left to audition.

Mel B describes yet another of his choices as the "wrong thing", prompting Walsh to admit that he has "made a mistake" and change his mind.

As Cowell holds his head in his hands and says he "can't bear it", Walsh's new decision doesn't go down well with the judges or audience either - and Cowell throws paper at his fellow judge, adding: "We're going to have a riot on our hands."

By the time the last act has performed, even Dermot O'Leary looks exasperated and Walsh eventually decides to consult his fellow judges on what to do - although they are still not happy with his final call, as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini collapses onto Cowell in despair. There are even girls in the audience crying.

In the end, one of the members of a group being sent home takes to the stage to request a sing-off, adding: "We want to fight for this and battle for this right now. We're not leaving without a fight."

Walsh agrees to the sing-off and picks two groups to fight it out - before also listening to Fernandez-Versini and bringing back a group he had already sent home.

Viewers will have to tune in to tonight's show to find out which of the groups make it through to Walsh's Judges' Houses stage.

The X Factor continues tonight (September 28) at 8pm on ITV.
