Having been saved following Deadlock last week, Stephanie Nala was eliminated after coming bottom of the public vote for her reggae version of Blondie's 'Call Me'.
Chloe Jasmine came in the bottom three for her performance of 'Fame', and only Cheryl voted to save her ahead of Stereo Kicks.
Asked about the exits by Xtra Factor host Sarah-Jane Crawford, Cheryl said: "We've lost the cool factor and you've lost actually somebody that was very, very interesting and hadn't given her all yet."
She added of Nala: "She's very distinctive. It's one of those finding tunes... and with the themes you have to be very, very careful with Steph because her voice is so distinctive.
Simon Cowell: 'Chloe Jasmine didn't want it that much'
"On a record you would automatically know it's her but on stage with the themes it kind of hindered her a little bit. That's what I think happened."
Simon Cowell said of Nala's exit: "I don't think Stephanie even believed she was gonna stay in. You could just see it on her face. You know, like I said she was half-asleep last night.... oh right, three quarters asleep."
Of her fellow judges choosing to save Stereo Kicks ahead of Chloe Jasmine, Cheryl said: "It's their decision, I think they lost a very intriguing character."
Asked about Chloe Jasmine's exit, Sinitta said on The Xtra Factor: "Horrible, horrible. I think it's like losing a light. She really looked happy that she was there."
Choreographer Sisco Gomez said that the decision was "a mistake" and head stylist Gemma Sheppard added: "I think it's about light and shade. It's a tough competition this year and I think there are so many brilliant acts.
"I'm obsessed with her... she is enchanting. She never, ever complains.
The X Factor: What did the judges have to say about '80s Week?
"She's had a really bad swollen foot all week, she puts her heels on, she's on stage, and she's a true pro, but moreover she's hugely entertaining."
Cheryl said of the chance that one of her surviving acts would win the competition: "Obviously, I've still got Lauren and Lola, who are absolutely outstanding.
"I think for the show overall, we've lost a very interesting character and we've lost the cool factor, so overall I think we have lost some quality to the show."
When show boss Simon Cowell noted that he had four acts to Cheryl's two, she retorted: "We'll see about it. 4-2 - one can win, we'll see. Ready to roll."
