Between all the creepy puppetry songs and slo-mo ballerinas and scary-as-hell Ultron in the new “Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer, there was one thing we couldn’t help but notice: Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is wildly inconsistent in his shirt-wearing abilities.
The man is in varying states of disarray throughout the trailer, managing, with differing degrees of success, to wear a shirt. Below, we ranked the good doctor/Big Green Guy’s efforts in proper apparel deployment, from most successful to least.
5. Best: Clothed in the lab
It’s hard to fully see him here, but it would appear that Bruce Banner is successfully wearing a whole shirt, entirely buttoned. His entire torso is covered! A+ in shirt-wearing, Hulk! You did it!
4. Good try: Unbuttoned in the Quinjet
Points for wearing most of the shirt, but points off for having it unbuttoned. Perhaps he’s just showing off his rugged side, but the buttons are there for a reason, pal. Use ‘em or lose ‘em.
3. Not quite: Shirtless in the woods
Where’s your shirt? You’re in the snow! What’s happening to you? Aren’t you cold? Still, can’t say the dude is wearing a shirt wrong if he’s just not wearing a shirt at all.
2. Worse: No shirt, no human form
Again, you can’t point to him wearing a shirt wrong if he’s totally shirtless, but we’re ranking this one higher because at least the dude had the decency to have a human torso in the example above.
1. Worst: That’s not how you use a shirt
Listen. The man is a doctor. He’s a scientist. He’s been to so much school! We know what he could do if he would just apply himself — he could get his arms through the armholes. That’s what they’re there for, Bruce. To put your arms through. We know you’re upset, but we just need you to understand that that’s not how big boys wear shirts. Shhh. Shhhhhhhh. It’s OK. It’ll all be OK.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
