Drake’s Birthday Message To J. Cole Makes Us Believe In Rapper Friendships

When 2014 Forest Hills Drive , the new album from J. Cole, hit the ‘net in December, one of the songs fans immediately flocked to was “January 28th.” Largely because they were looking to make something out of Cole’s lyrics: “You might be Drizzy Drake or Kendrick Lamar/ But check your birth date, n—a, you ain’t the God.”

Well, Wednesday (Jan. 28) is the actual day that the song is titled after, and the birth date referred to in the lyrics is Cole’s, and it’s here, and he’s 30. But he’s not feuding with Drake, and Drizzy seems to have not taken offense to that line.

Instead, he wrote a sweet, heartfelt message to Jermaine on his born day.

“And of course to my BROTHER in this sh-t,” he began an Instagram caption of a photo of the two of them from 2012. “This whole business is a grey blur. Thanks for keeping it black and white with me always (lightskin pun intended). Enjoy your day and congrats on everything this year.”

If that ain’t rapper-on-rapper love, I’m not sure what is.

Oh, what’s that you say? That’s not enough tenderness from Drake for your Wednesday? Fine. He also wished Rick Ross a happy birthday, writing, “Happy birthstrong to @richforever! Always a mentor. #DC #MMG #OVO.”

How ’bout a “January 28th” remix featuring Drake and Rozay?

P.s. Drake and Cole’s love for each other is nothing new. When Cole apologized for an “offensive” lyric on “Jodeci (freestyle)” Drizzy had his back, in the video below.

I'm still me.
