Looks like Warner Bros. is going back to the future with “The Jetsons.”
According to Deadline, the studio will take the classic Hanna-Barbera television series about a space-age family of four that originated in 1962 and turn it into an animated theatrical feature film.
Matt Lieberman, a Disney Writers Program alum, has been tapped to pen the script.
The animated angle is a huge departure from earlier reports that a live-action adaptation was in the works that would involve the culture curator himself, Kanye West.
Holy Yeezus, that would have been something!
“The Jetsons” library is owned by Warner Bros. because Ted Turner acquired it before selling his company to the studio. Lieberman was hired to flesh out the movie based on his success with the animated “Scooby-Doo” movie and “Atlas.”
No date has been set for the film’s release yet.
