It seems like every week or so, Iggy Azalea is publicly defending herself or explaining herself, and her latest defense is in response to Eve and Jill Scott.
The two artists paid a visit to Sirius XM’s “Sway in the Morning” show this week, where Iggy became a topic of conversation. They both gave props to Iggy, even though Eve admitted that she wasn’t necessarily a fan.
“At the end of the day, I get it. I get that people might be upset about certain things, yeah she’s white but they grew up with our sh-t,” the Philly rapper said. “Hip-hop is everywhere — every neighborhood, every country, every city. Yes, it’s from us and it’s our thing but she’s representing a group of girls right, now as well.”
But what seemed to irk Iggy was what they called her “blaccent” — a Southern-twang that she’s been accused of fabricating.
“She’s from a different place and I’ve said this before: It would be dope to hear her with her swag,” Eve said about the accent. “Who are you, what are you, what is that? Australians are so dope. From the singers, to the music to the fashion. They have it. That’s my only thing about it. I just wish there was a little bit more of possibly inserting where she came from.”
It didn’t take long for the “Fancy” rapper to get wind of the interview and respond on Twitter, accusing Eve and Jill Scott was wanting her to act out a stereotype.
The real question herex is, does Iggy make things any better by continuing to respond to everything? This could keep her schedule full for a long time.
