Michael Moore has appeared to hit out at American Sniper again.
The filmmaker posted an image on Twitter of the grave of his uncle, who was killed by a sniper in World War II.
Moore captioned the image: "My uncle's grave in Flint, with the flag I placed there in October. Killed by a sniper in WWII on March 10, 1945. RIP."
The Fahrenheit 9/11 director previously revealed on Twitter his uncle's death at the hands of a sniper, adding that he has always been taught that snipers are "cowards".
Moore did later deny directly criticising the film.
He wrote on Facebook: "If [the media] wanted to know my opinion of American Sniper (and I have one), why not ask me? So here's what I think about American Sniper: Awesome performance from Bradley Cooper. One of the best of the year. Great editing. Costumes, hair, makeup superb! Oh... and too bad [director] Clint [Eastwood] gets Vietnam and Iraq confused in his storytelling.

"And that he has his characters calling Iraqis 'savages' throughout the film. But there is also anti-war sentiment expressed in the movie. And there's a touching ending as the main character is remembered after being gunned down by a fellow American vet with PTSD who was given a gun at a gun range back home in Texas - and then used it to kill the man who called himself the American Sniper."
Seth Rogen issued a more scathing critique of American Sniper by comparing it to Inglourious Basterds' Nazi propaganda film-within-a-film Nation's Pride .
American Sniper is competing in the Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay categories at the 87th Academy Awards. The movie topped the US box office over the weekend.
