Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley Lead ACM Awards Nominations

Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley are the frontrunners leading into the Academy of Country Music Awards, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Lambert has a leading eight nominations for the April 19 event, including her fourth nod for entertainer of the year and she’s again in the hunt for female vocalist of the year, the award she took out last year. It’s her ninth consecutive nod for that particular trophy. Lambert is also up for album of the year, single record of the year, video of the year and vocal event of the year (for "Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood) and she has nods in the category for song of the year (as artist and songwriter, for “Automatic.”)

Dierks earns seven ACM nominations, includes chances for male vocalist of the year, album of the year for "Riser", single record of the year and video of the year for “Drunk On A Plane.” Not far behind is Florida Georgia Line with five nominations while Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, and Eric Church each score four nominations.

The Academy's annual celebration promises to be a particularly busy night for Bryan; the singer will host the gala along with Blake Shelton.

The ACM’s professional membership selects the nominees and winners of the awards, and selects the final top five nominees of the Academy's most prestigious honor, the entertainer of the year category. New artist of the year final nominees will be selected by a combined vote of the fans and professional members. The semi-finalists for new artist of the year are Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Sam Hunt, Kip Moore, Thomas Rhett, Chase Rice, Cole Swindell, and Dan + Shay. The ACM Awards at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX will be produced for television by Dick Clark productions. This year’s broadcast will be extended by half an hour in celebration of its golden anniversary.
