Was Lil Wayne Hinting At His Cash Money Problems In This Old Interview?

Never in a million years would we have predicted that Lil Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money Records would be a thing. Sure, the label has seen their fair share of suits in the past, but Wayne and Birdman‘s “father-son” relationship gave us hope that the two would be together forever.

Well, now that we’ve seen Weezy’s 21-page suit, it seems that the writing has been on the wall for sometime.

Back in 2012 Wayne told MTV News’ correspondent Sway Calloway that his upcoming Tha Carter V would be his last album. Through the years the message has changed a bit, in March 2014, while we were on the set of Young Money’s “Senile” video, Tune told MTV News that Tha Carter V would be his final solo album and “definitely the final Carter album.”

The rapper said that in order for him to come back and do an LP after solo C5 he would need a huge payout.

“25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” Wayne said after taking a deep breath and a second to think out his answer.

“I didn’t smile when I said it,” he pointed out to us in an effort to show just how serious he really was.

At the time it just seemed like Wayne was about his money, but looking at that comment now it’s reasonable to question if Weezy’s $35 million calculations came as a result of his frustrations with Cash Money.

The multiplatinum rap superstar is claiming that his label owes him a total of $10 million for the delivery of The Carter V, and he is also seeking unpaid royalties for his own music and the music from the Young Money artists on his label, which he shares with Cash Money.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life!
