Alexandre Desplat will work on the score for Star Wars: Rogue One.
Desplat confirmed his involvement during a chat with Radio Classique's Culture Club (via Film Music Reporter ). He will reunite with director Gareth Edwards, who he worked with on last year's Godzilla.
He was recently awarded an Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy for the Grand Budapest Hotel soundtrack.

Birdman and Boyhood top Critics' Choice Movie Awards 2015
It has been confirmed that the French composer will work on the spinoff instead of John Williams, who will be busy working on music for The Force Awakens and Episode VIII.

He has previously worked on music for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Imitation Game, Unbroken and Zero Dark Thirty.

The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones was recently confirmed as the lead star of Rogue One , which will begin filming in London this summer.
The spinoff - a story from Chris Weitz set outside the core saga while still maintaining connections to the universe - will hit cinemas on December 16, 2016.
