‘American Horror Story’: Matt Bomer Checks In, And Jessica Lange Checks Out

There’s good news and bad news on the “American Horror Story: Hotel” front. Let’s start with the good…

Matt Bomer, who previously worked with Ryan Murphy on the Emmy-winning “The Normal Heart,” is reuniting with Murphy for the next season of “American Horror Story.” The casting was announced at last night’s PaleyFest panel for “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” confirming that Bomer is part of the new season, though he stopped short of identifying his character.

“I can’t confirm or deny that there might be a love interest,” said Bomer, according to Deadline. His comments are sure to fuel speculation about Lady Gaga and Bomer’s characters hooking up. One can hope, at least!

Now, the bad, if not entirely shocking, news: Jessica Lange is definitely checking out of “American Horror Story,” just as the series gears up for its fifth season. After four years playing a range of characters beginning with “Murder House” femme fatale Constance Langdon, and ending with “Freak Show” ringleader Elsa Mars, Lange confirmed that her time with the series has come to an end.

“We’ve had a great run here,” she said. “I mean, I absolutely love doing these four characters, and in all the madness, I love the writers and Ryan and the insanity of shooting it.”

Lose Lange, gain Lady Gaga and Bomer. Worth the trade? We’ll find out when “American Horror Story: Hotel” opens up in the fall.
