Cate Blanchett on adopting daughter: "It's extraordinary"

Cate Blanchett has opened up about adopting a child.

The Cinderella actress and her husband Andrew Upton recently welcomed a daughter, Edith Vivian Patricia Upton, to their family.

Blanchett is already a mother to sons Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.

Speaking to Sky News , she said: "Fourth time around - it's extraordinary."

"There's a lot of children out there who don't have the good fortune like our biological children, so it's wonderful. It's wonderful to welcome a little girl into our fold."

Blanchett and Upton have been married since December 1997.

Blanchett stars in the live-action adaptation of Cinderella as wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, a role immortalised in Disney's 1950 animated musical.

Cinderella is out now in the US and will be released on March 27 in the UK.
