Dwayne Johnson: 'DC Comics film Shazam could be moved up'

Dwayne Johnson has said that the release date of DC Comics adaptation Shazam could be moved up.

The film, which is part of DC's shared film universe, is scheduled to open in cinemas on April 5, 2019 with Johnson playing Black Adam.

Speaking to MTV News , Johnson revealed that there is strong likelihood of Shazam getting an earlier release date.

"It may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted," he hinted. "The script is coming in, it's great. Support from the studio has been great."

Johnson went on to say: "It's just a great opportunity, especially with Black Adam where you can take a guy who starts off as a bad guy, turns into an anti-hero.

"We can make him vicious, [with] a little bit of winking charm."

It is not yet known who will be playing the heroic Shazam in the blockbuster feature.

DC will premiere its next movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the spring of 2016, followed by Suicide Squad that summer.
