A local news clip out of St. Louis went viral last week when a male anchor called his female co-anchor “the Hamburglar” because of her black-and-white horizontally striped shirt. After unleashing some terrifying side-eye, April Simpson laughed and said she’d get her revenge later:
Well, vengeance will have to wait, because she was punked on live television yet again, this time with a visit from the Hamburglar himself during last night’s broadcast. And Simpson was not having it:
We still contend that Simpson looked more like a French mime, so fittingly she stayed silent at the beginning of this little prank to really let the awkwardness set in. But she broke her silence, saying, “There are several people who are no longer my friends.” And that was before her colleagues started throwing burgers at her! (McDonald’s, ever the ones to capitalize on a marketing opportunity, sent the character to the studio with a peace offering of free hamburgers.)
“I’m just letting y’all know, this is not funny,” Simpson continued. But after the show, she posted a photo of the visit on Instagram with the caption, “I don’t look amused, but I really was.”
Still, perhaps it’s no coincidence she sent out this tweet later last night.
