Deadline reports that the casting change was made after the script's table read, with Brandt being brought in after originally auditioning for the role.

Lucifer follows the ruler of hell played by Tom Ellis, who out of boredom moves to Los Angeles.

Once in LA, Lucifer helps the police catch criminals and solve puzzling cases.

Jerry Bruckheimer is executive producing alongside Len Wiseman. Tom Kapinos penned the script.

The Lucifer character first appeared in DC Comics in the early 1960s, but was revitalised by Neil Gaiman in the 1980s.
