MTV’s Musical March Madness Begins: Find Out Which Artist Made The Cut

Let the madness begin!

MTV’s Musical March Madness is officially under way with voting in the first round of our bracket-style competition now open. Thirty-two of the biggest artists in music will be battling it out for the title in the sixth year of our tournament.

This year, with our new criteria in mind, we asked you to pick who makes the cut for the field of 32 contenders. We’ve gotten tons of submissions, including artists from a variety of genres. Pop divas will face off against rock stars, while boy bands will take on hip-hop artists, so it’s truly anyone’s game.

Vote In Our Musical March Madness Bracket!

Veteran MMM participants like former champ Ed Sheeran, two-time winners Tokio Hotel, Paramore and Thirty Seconds to Mars, are all making their return to the bracket. Meanwhile, rookies One Direction, Demi Lovato, Rihanna and Wiz Khalifa make their big debuts. Check out the bracket to see the full list, along with the matchups, which were completely decided at random.

The first round of voting is open until Thursday, March 19, when the 32 contenders will be narrowed down to 16. You can help by voting for your favorite as many times as you wish and be sure to spread the word on Twitter, Instagram, Vine and Tumblr using the hashtag #MMM.

Head to the bracket to vote and share:

So, will Paramore take down Charli XCX in the first round? Will a woman finally win the crown? Could the 5SOS fam and Directioners face off in the final? Or will Tokio Hotel take back the title? There are so many questions, but only you can determine the outcome. So start voting now!

The winner of Musical March Madness will be announced on Friday, April 3. Check back with MTV News for daily updates as we narrow down the pool of 32 to your #MMM winner.
