Watch Tom Hanks Sing And Dance With Justin Bieber In Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’ Video”

How about we just go ahead and give Carly Rae Jepsen’s “I Really Like You” video the award for Video of the Year right now because it is pretty epic.

I mean, Tom Hanks, walking around New York City, singing (kind of out of sync) Carly’s song , making “Forest Gump” references and dancing with Justin Bieber, this is just too much amazingness for my brain to handle.

The video follows Tom throughout the course of the day. We see Tom wake up, hop in a cab to meet Carly, sign some autographs, and have an ultimate dance party on a cold winter night.

“I had this concept that because the song was so sweet and kind of adorable, I wanted the video to be really funny, and so I had a vision of a Wes Anderson type of direction where a guy sang it– somebody unexpected,” Carly told us. “And Scooter [Braun] is friends with Tom and he was telling him how I’d been kind of politely stalking characters, being like ‘do you want to be in my video?’ And over dinner Tom was like, ‘why didn’t you guys ask me?’ So he kind of volunteered himself on the coldest day of New York winter.”

And Tom seemed to love every minute. “It was an amazing day,” Carly said of the actor’s reaction to seeing the final video- even if he had bit of a hard time remembering the lyrics, which is what Carly “kind of loves about it.”

“There was a moment when he was filming it when he was like, ‘does someone have a lyric sheet?’ I was kind of tucked in the corner watching everything and I was like ‘I know the words,” Carly said. “He’s like what’s that second line? I’m like well, ‘I really want to fly with the boy on the moon, so honey hold my hand you like making me wait for it,’ and he’s like ‘ok,’ and I walked back to my corner and I’m like I just fed Tom Hanks lines from my journal, and now he’s going to sing them, life is so weird.”

And that wasn’t the only unexpected thing; Carly actually wasn’t expecting Justin to show up on set.

“I didn’t really know it was kind of a surprise to me,” Carly said of the Biebs. “I think he was in town and he’s obviously been apart of my project since the beginning so it was kind of nice and weirdly nostalgic to be like, round two.”
