He also said he was not guilty of possessing methamphetamine and cannabis.
However Rudd changed his plea on Tuesday (April 21) to guilty on all three charges, before his trial was due to begin at the Tauranga district court.
The maximum sentence for threatening to kill is seven years in jail, while possession of cannabis carries a sentence of three months and methamphetamine possession six months.
Back in November, Rudd also faced accusations of attempting to procure a murder, which were later dropped due to insufficient evidence.
Rudd has been released on bail until his case in adjourned on June 26.
