Last week, a technical snafu caused several Balenciaga handbags worth thousands of dollars at suggested retail to be incorrectly priced (some as low as $155), resulting in an Internet frenzy as bargain-hunting fashionistas raced to purchase before Balenciaga caught on to the issue.

A few dexterous customers, who wasted no time proceeding to checkout when they noticed the low pricing, noted that they received email confirmations after ordering from the site on Thursday.
However, Page Six reports that these orders have since been canceled. On Saturday, shoppers received a tear-jerking email from Balenciaga stating, "Due to an issue that listed incorrect pricing for Balenciaga products, we are sorry to inform you that your purchase . . . has been canceled.”

In an official statement to Refinery29, the brand apologized for its error, saying "because Balenciaga values their patronage, clients who have been affected by the error will be reimbursed for their purchases and will be issued a gift certificate that will be redeemable at Balenciaga retail locations within the United States." No word yet on the amount that will be issued on the gift certificate, but we're betting it won't be enough to cover a handbag.
