Among the many reasons for fans to get excited about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the new droid BB-8 is right at the top of the list — especially because BB-8’s real! Well, not really real, but it’s a real-life practical effect, as evidenced by the fact that it was wheeling and dealing all over the stage at Star Wars Celebration last week.
If you’re like me, your first thought on seeing BB-8 went a little something like this:
Well, wish granted, thanks to Christian Poulsen. The engineer challenged himself to design his very own BB-8 in only one day. Mission accomplished, as you can see in this video:
And you don’t just have to gaze longingly at Poulsen’s product. He left detailed instructions on how you can make your own BB-8, too, listing all the steps out for Make.
If it looks too hard to create BB-8, then look on the bright side! The holiday season isn’t that far away.
