Twitter founder Jack Dorsey is backing TIDAL: 'I respect people who try new challenges'

Jay Z's TIDAL has come under fire ever since its launch - but Twitter founder Jack Dorsey is backing it.

The music subscription site, launched by the rapper last month, has fallen out of the iOS chart and has come up against criticisms about the validity of the company.

However, Dorsey publicly got behind TIDAL today (April 27), tweeting: "I appreciate & respect people who depart from their strengths and take on new challenges. Been using Tidal & dig it!"
Jay Z bought TIDAL for $56 million and relaunched it with the support of several artists, including Coldplay, Rihanna, Madonna and Calvin Harris.

However, other artists like Mumford & Sons, Steve Albini, Marina and the Diamonds and Lily Allen have expressed reservations about the service.

After a wave of criticisms, Jay Z took to Twitter to assure subscribers that the site was "doing just fine" and is "here for the long haul".

Kanye West does seem to have jumped ship with TIDAL just weeks after helping launch the new music platform, by deleting all mentions of TIDAL on his Twitter feed.

But Jay Z isn't deserting the service yet, with recent reports suggesting Beyoncé and Jay Z will be releasing their next album exclusively to TIDAL.
