‘X-Men’ Fans, Get Your First Look At The New Nightcrawler

We have a little bit more than a year standing between us and “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the latest “X-Men” flick from franchise veteran Bryan Singer. But today, Singer and his team are embarking on the first official day of production, and they’re marking the occasion with something special for fans.

But make sure to look while you can, because what you’re about to see will disappear before your very eyes, before you know it:

That’s Singer showing you his new take on Nightcrawler, the blue-skinned mutant with the power of teleportation, first seen on screen in “X2: X-Men United.” Alan Cumming originated the role in “X2,” but for “Apocalypse,” a new name will fill out Kurt Wagner’s shoes (or lack thereof): Kodi Smit-McPhee, best known for starring in “Let Me In,” “The Road,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and much more.

Smit-McPhee, who stars opposite Magneto (aka Michael Fassbender) in this summer’s “Slow West,” recently sat down with us to gush about his Nightcrawler costume, and we can certainly see why. Kurt looks awesome as ever here, crouching on all fours, staring straight at you with piercing brown eyes contrasted against his midnight-blue skin.

Remember when we said Nightcrawler would be your new “X-Men” crush? We weren’t kidding!

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

Likes pizza, punch and pie. Dislikes the Chitauri.
