Damascus will follow Ferrera as a nun on a mission to dish out justice on behalf of those less fortunate.
Ferrera's alter ego will find herself forming an unexpected partnership with a corporate lawyer. Together the two will go up against an evil underground organisation.
The pilot reunites Ferrera with Ugly Betty executive producer Teri Weinberg.
Additional details surrounding the pilot are slim with multiple networks reportedly interested in the potential series.
Nick Osborne (Licence to Wed) is slated to write the pilot.
Ferrera is best known for her recent voice over work in Dragons: Riders of Berk.
The actress is currently recording for How To Train Your Dragon 2.
