According to Bloomberg, the 38-year-old former footballer - who recently retired from the sport - was paid the wage by his sponsorship and image-rights company Footwork Productions Ltd.

The sum is a 6% increase on his wage the previous year.
Beckham has a string of endorsement and advertising deals, including with H&M, Sainsbury's and Sky, while the production company has stated that it expects a "sustained level of endorsement income during 2013".
It was recently revealed that Beckham and wife Victoria had sold their former home - nicknamed Beckingham Palace - for £12 million.
Meanwhile, Beckham took to the London skyline last week to shoot a new commercial for H&M, with whom he fronts an underwear line for.
