In a new book titled Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever by Wall Street Journal reporters Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O'Connell, the authors claim that the singer knew of Armstrong receiving an illegal blood transfusion.
The couple were engaged during their relationship from 2003 to 2006.
"Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it," the book claims. "He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team's doping programme.
"He explained that it was simply part of the sport - that all cyclists were doing the same thing."
According to Deadspin , Crow was contacted by investigators during the initial proceedings against the cyclist. She is thought to have been interviewed as part of the doping investigation in 2011.
However, the book claims that she was given a written agreement protecting her from any prosecution if she revealed everything she knew about his doping routine.
Last month, Armstrong returned his Olympic bronze cycling medal from the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
